Learn about Australian opals and the full process from selecting uncut opal, to cutting, shaping, and polishing an opal ready to be set. Learn with our experienced team who have been in the opal industry for over 30 years.
This 4 hour course will offer the following:
- Opal Introduction
- How to select opal from a rough parcel (Uncut opal) and know what to look for when buying
- How to prepare an opal to be cut, shaped, and polished
- How to dop up an opal and create your own dop sticks
- How to cut, shape, and polish an opal ready to be set into jewellery
- How to cut and make your own boulder pendant with leather strap
- How set up your own cutting machine and where to buy materials
You will get:
- A take home Opal that you personally cut
- A take home boulder opal pendant that is hand made by you
- Access to our teachers for any future questions you may have
How it works:
Sessions currently run Saturday and Sunday from 8am with 15 minute break for morning/afternoon tea etc. (Courses are limited and subject to availability)
